It is nearly 11pm. Just heard kids screaming “the train is here”. Two other passengers board with bike gear–I am not the only nut!
Good Luck Tom! i just watched a documentary last night on Netflix called “Ride the Divide”, different than your upcoming trip, but a big trip with a number of mountain bikers traveling from Banff to Mexico. If you get an opportunity, check it out. THinking of you lots and anxiously awaiting more posts! Ride safe and pee a lot!
You don’t like an ‘old bike dude’ in the pic. You look enthusiastic and ready for the challenge! Do you have to carry all that gear on your bike? Wish you well. Hope your first day in Washington is beautiful. Be safe. Enjoy the scenery and the people that you will meet along the way!
How’s the train ride?
It is quite relaxing. I am meeting folks from Indiana, Kentucky, North Dakota and Minnesota. Many are headed to Glacier Park.
The train rocks and weaves back and forth. Peaceful. We just stopped in Havre to let passengers off. This allowed us to take a 5 minute walkabout.
Train is running a couple hours late. I hear the Rockies are an hour away!
Tom’s first day of school – age 5 (as I imagine): new back pack with shiny new supplies, at the bus early ready to go, excitement, anticipation, well prepared, anxiety about who he is going to meet and who is going to play with him for the day, and big grin on his face.
Tom’s first day of retirement – age 60: See above.
